Options: This comes standard with the high end Nanuk 933 case and Vevor Chinese heater which we breakdown and rebuild to reroute fuel and ensure quality and function. If you would like you are able to upgrade to the Esbar German diesel heater which is extremely dependable for 15 + years of use along with a more refined with a controller that automatically adjusts for high altitude and pressure changes making them extremely easy to use and very quiet, both great options that will last for many years when used and cared for properly. Keep in mind that the Zarges case heaters can have longer lead times. You are also able to upgrade to the Zarges Aluminum k470 series case for different application needs like mounted in the rear of your camper or trailer set up. If you are sleeping close to the unit then you may think about upgrading to the ultra quiet fuel pump or even the Esbar option for a silent experience inside a camper set up. The ultimate solution for cold weather camping (or those chilly summer nights!), the 5KW Portable Diesel heater is designed and assembled locally in Portland, OR. This unit is self-contained (meaning unlike others, this case holds the fuel tank, fuel lines, exhaust, heat ducting and exhaust inside the case), water resistant, crush-resistant, and most of all yogi bear proof. The proprietary detachable vent system makes setup and take down a breeze and the cap-able vent ports keep the adventure dust out! With a built in 5.5L fuel tank filled, you’ll be comfortable all night, even with the heater turned up all the way. One of the big benefits compared to a propane heater is the lack of condensation introduced by the heater itself, and no open flames in the heated space. This unit can heat tents, awning rooms, tent annexes, your super awesome adventure trailer, or even the cab of your adventure mobile! The heater can run on road diesel, heating oil, or kerosene and it’s even safe to run anti-gel additives for when the temperatures really get cold! Included with the heater is a quickstart guide, a user’s manual, aviation grade waterproof electrical connections with a 10 foot power cord and wired controller, 8 feet of quality insulated vent hose, intake and exhaust , and all the other parts you’ll need to get up and running. The case is perfectly tailored to hold all parts and pieces cleanly inside the case to avoid any damage or any extra baggage. The heater runs on 12v DC and uses the same amount of power as a car refrigerator once it’s up and running (~1 amp on high, 15 amps during startup/shutdown, make sure you have the approriate power source to power the heater, we have set the power harness up with a plug on the end so you can use whatever connection works best for you setup ).

This heater has been really well built. I ann using mine to heat an CVT Tent and it defiantly over performs. For my small space I will only need to run it to the #3 setting (it goes all the way to 10).
A few places for improvements:
The controller and the quick start guide just doesn’t work together and I tried search YouTube for a video to figure out how to use it but it doesn’t seem to work in the same conventual way.
Personally the ducting hose is very hard to slip over the alloy flange of the heater. I feel that this is a HUGE over site since this duct is so delicate to getting smashed or torn. I bought a silicone coupler and flange connection for the ducting so that it is a more durable design.
The power cord connector flange was also improperly riveted into the Nanuk box and honestly that style of rivet is not meant for plastic and it should of been a different fastener or it should of been riveted to a metal plate, so it’s slightly crooked and for sure going to break in time.
These problems really should be worked out especially if I spotted these obvious flaws and addressed a solution in a matter of seconds and especially for the amount of money Lolo charges.
Lolo, if these are problems you just haven’t noticed then I would be willing to help you out in R&D ideas since I do a lot of cold weather camping and have a manufacturing back ground. I could have and probably should have made my own but I decided to roll the dice and I kind of regret it a bit since I probably would have executed something more refined.
As billed, this heater greatly enhances cold-weather camping. I used mine to warm my iKamper and it performs well. In such a small space I only needed to run the heater on the #1&2 settings (it goes all the way to 10). I ran it for 29 hours at this setting on one tank of kerosene. It was between 29-35 degrees Fahrenheit, so I could see needing to run at a higher setting in colder temperatures.
The pump clicking is audible in the tent, I believe the sound comes through the ducting, but it’s not too bad.
A few gripes:
The controller is not intuitive to use and the “quick start guide” provided with the unit was clearly not written for the controller that was provided with my heater. I had to search YouTube for a video to figure out how to use it, the instructions provided were interpreted from Chinese and impossible to make sense of.
The ducting hose provided is very difficult to slip over the flange on the outside of the heater box. This really needs to be improved upon, and I plan to fit some kind of stepped silicone coupler to facilitate easier connection of the hose.
The power cord connector flange was sloppily installed into the Nanuk box, so it’s slightly crooked and for sure not water-tight. It’s minor, but should have been caught by QA.
These three concerns really need to be addressed for the amount of money Lolo charges, especially considering an 8 week lead time from when I placed the order to when I went to retrieve it.
Otherwise I’m super happy with the purchase, and while I’ve only used it over one 3 day trip and I can’t speak to long-term reliability, so far I am impressed.
